Manually deleting specific traces from an application

We had a security incident at Instana, we found sensitive data in the traces of an authentication application.

We are looking for a way to manually delete these special traces.

    Hi Gerald,

thanks a lot for this idea. Since our data stores are not optimised for data deletion and we need to keep this under control, deletion of special trace data will remain a manual task:

Please contact the Instana support and ask for specific traces to be deleted. The support can handle this as urgent requests. We will work out the issue with our SRE team and data engineers from the specific teams.

Also, trace data in Instana is only kept for 7 days, after this period 99% of all traces are removed by our internal schedule.

    Best regards,

    Henning Treu
