Request for Npgsql.EntityFrameworkCore.PostgreSQL 8.0.11 tracing support

Hello,

We are doing an Instana POC, and we need your support on the .NET Npgsql tracer.

The application to be monitored is deployed on AWS ECS Fargate. Also, it connects to AWS Aurora (Postgres) DB using the Npgsql.EntityFrameworkCore.PostgreSQL 8.0.11 library.

Currently, we can see the traces and spans on Instana when there are HTTP requests hit our application's endpoint. However, we cannot see any DB-related span under the parent HTTP span.

As listed on the Instana documatation, version 8.0.11 of Npgsql.EntityFrameworkCore.PostgreSQL is not supported yet. Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to migrate our production environment to a supported version.

Since the DB tracing feature is a hard requirement for us, we would like to ask if it is possible for you to add tracing support for Npgsql.EntityFrameworkCore.PostgreSQL 8.0.11. We would have to consider other APM solutions if this problem could not be resolved.

    I am happy to announce this feature has been delivered and it's available in the latest version of Instana Agent.
