Cloud Management and AIOps

This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Create a dedicated Instana sensor for IBM SevOne and associated SevOne platform components

We request IBM to develop a dedicated Instana sensor for IBM SevOne that provides native monitoring for the broader SevOne platform, including SevOne NMS core services, SevOne Data Insight, and, where deployed alongside SevOne, related reporting and automation components such as IBM Rapid Infrastructure Automation (formerly Rapid Network Automation) and IBM Cognos Analytics. Today, challenge is that Instana can only monitoring IBM SevOne infrastructure and some of the technologies it recognized but missing SevOne specific observability. We Like to have an dedicated Instana sensor for IBM SevOne which covers following features:

1) SevOne NMS core platform

The sensor should cover the core SevOne self-monitoring architecture, including:

Prometheus and Alertmanager health

Pushgateway and Node Exporter health

Core SevOne scripts and alerting status

Metrics endpoints for datad, ingestion-resolved, OCD, Kafka, config-db, and data-db

Peer state, failover/takeover, split-brain, and database crash indicators

Cluster leader and HSA awareness where applicable

2) SevOne process and appliance health

The sensor should also expose:

Critical process availability and restarts

Database synchronization and replication indicators

CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, and node-level health

System log and service health correlations

Ingestion overload and write-error indicators

3) SevOne Data Insight

For Data Insight, the sensor should monitor:

Data Insight application/node health

Report execution health and latency

Datasource/cluster status and peer visibility

Flow Explorer service health where present

OOTB reporting health, including SevOne SelfMon report visibility

Dependencies between Data Insight and SevOne NMS services

4) Automation tier when RNA/RIA is deployed

If IBM Rapid Infrastructure Automation is deployed with SevOne-related workflows, Instana should ideally show:

Automation center and workflow execution health

Job scheduling failures

Workflow latency and error rates

OpenShift-based service health for the automation platform

Dependency mapping between automation workflows and SevOne-facing APIs or services

5) Reporting tier when Cognos is deployed

If customers use Cognos Analytics with SevOne data or adjacent reporting use cases, Instana support should also help surface:

Reporting service availability

Dashboard/report generation latency

Scheduled report execution failures

Governance/authentication-related service degradation

Dependencies between reporting workloads and SevOne data sources
