Need to organize the Agent installation screen differently

As we have added more and more installation options, the installation screen as shown in the attachment has gotten unruly.  There are two major problems.   First, we now have so many options that you require a scroll bar to see all of the viable options.    Second, the installation options are not sorted properly.

In terms of sorting problems, you see that there is one Linux installation option followed by z/OS, followed by 2 other Linux installation options, followed by IBM i, followed by 2 more Linux installation options, followed by Unix, followed by the AWS sensor, followed by a number of other options.  The two MacOS installation options are not next to each other.

I have watched MANY customers struggle to find the appropriate installation option.   Even when I guide them on a web conference, they have difficulty finding the option.

My recommendation would be to create categories of installation.   For example:

  • We now have several AWS options for AWS sensor, EC2, Fargate, etc.   Create an AWS catagory as well has Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Create a kubernetes category.  Within this categary, I would recommend including the Cloud based kubernetes options (EKS, AKS, etc.)
  • Create a Linux category.  I would include duplicates of the AWS EC2, GCE, etc.
  • Create a Windows category.  Include a duplicate of the Windows EC2 option.
  • Create a Unix category and add the RPM install option
  • Create a MacOS category
  • Create an Air-Gapped category that contains duplicates of the entries in Linux, Windows, etc.
