Include Embbebed Azul Zulu JVM in dynamic update

I am writing to address a significant limitation regarding the Azul Zulu JVM bundled with the instana agent. Currently, the JVM does not update automatically alongside the agent.

When vulnerabilities are identified within the JVM component, the current recommendation is a manual reinstallation. However, in large-scale deployments, manual intervention is unfeasible and creates a significant security risk.

To maintain security compliance and operational efficiency, it is essential that an automatic update mechanism for the JVM be integrated into the standard agent update process. Could you please provide information on whether this is on the current roadmap, or if there is a supported workaround for automated patching?

    Hi John,


    thanks a lot for taking the time and for your idea.

    Updating the runtime JVM with a dynamic Agent update (which is in fact a dynamic sensors update) is not on the roadmap for the next 18 months.

    On Kubernetes or OCP clusters, updating the agent image is as easy as a re-deployment. On bare metal hosts or VMs, your current deployment automation shoudl be used to re-install the agent.
