Instana On Prem Swagger

For Instana SaaS and on-prem backends with internet access, users can rely on the IBM developer portal to browse and try available APIs. However, customers operating in restricted or fully isolated environments do not have that option, which makes it harder to explore and validate REST API calls directly against the backend.


A simple and effective improvement would be to package the OpenAPI specification with a built-in Swagger UI endpoint as part of the Instana deployment. This would let customers access API documentation and execute test calls locally, without having to deploy additional components, expose extra routes, or create network paths to Instana VMs. A built-in “swagger pod” would provide a much smoother experience, similar to the approach used by Turbonomic, where Swagger UI is exposed directly from the product.
