Openshift Cluster Monitoring - Namepsace specifc

We need Cluster Registration & Metadata for specific namespaces excluding node information in Kubernetes Infra.


The OpenShift platform team will not grant cluster-wide permissions (ClusterRole) required to deploy the Instana k8s-sensor via Instana Operator, which prevents Instana from natively discovering and attaching cluster metadata to our application resources.


While Prometheus metrics are successfully forwarded to Instana via remote_write (visible under Analytics -> Infrastructure -> Prometheus App), Instana cannot process or transform these raw metrics because it does not support metric arithmetic calculations or PromQL-style evaluation natively.

    The customer requires restricted access within the Kubernetes cluster, with visibility limited to specific namespaces rather than the entire cluster. Within those namespaces, their primary requirement is to monitor pod/container resource utilization, including CPU, memory, and PVC usage.
    Additionally, they have a broader objective to monitor their applications, middleware, and distributed traces.
