Due to the increasingly complex nature of the network, we spend a lot of time tracking down connectivity issues. These issues might be due to an unknown firewall rule, a misconfigured network policy, or incorrect routing setup in Kubernetes. Adding to the issues, is that we might be trying to connect from a container that does not include network troubleshooting tools or we are unable to shell into the running container due to security concerns. It would be extremely helpful to have network visibility in Instana. In particular, even a basic netstat that shows sockets that are in SYN_SENT from pods and nodes would be extremely helpful. Just knowing the source and destination of sockets that fail to establish a connection saves a significant amount of troubleshooting time.
