Enhance Dashboard Table Widget to Support Application Perspectives, Services, and Endpoints

The current Table Widget (Public Preview) supports infrastructure and platform entities but does not support displaying application-level entities such as services, endpoints, or application perspectives.

Customers frequently want to create operational dashboards that provide a tabular view of their monitored application endpoints, allowing teams to quickly review endpoint health, latency, call volume, error rates, and other key metrics in a sortable dashboard format. Today, this is possible to some extent within Analytics through filtered and grouped views, but those views cannot be embedded into custom dashboards.

As a result, application and service owners must navigate away from their dashboard workflows to access endpoint information, reducing dashboard effectiveness as a centralized operational view.

Customer Use Case

A customer wanted to build a custom dashboard containing a table of application endpoints so application support teams could:

  • View all endpoints in a single sortable table.
  • Display endpoint-specific metrics such as:
    • Calls
    • Errors
    • Error Rate
    • Latency (P50/P95/P99)
    • Throughput
    • Availability
  • Filter and sort endpoints by performance or health indicators.
  • Monitor endpoint status alongside other dashboard widgets for infrastructure, services, and business KPIs.

Currently, no dashboard widget provides this capability.

Proposed Enhancement

Expand the Table Widget entity support beyond infrastructure and platform entities to include:

  • Applications
  • Services
  • Service Endpoints
  • Application Perspectives
  • Smart Alerts (optional future enhancement)

Allow users to select endpoint and service metrics as table columns and leverage existing filtering, sorting, and grouping functionality.

Current Workaround

Users can build grouped and filtered Analytics views to obtain a list of endpoints, but these views cannot currently be embedded into custom dashboards. This workaround does not satisfy customers who require dashboard-based monitoring and reporting.

Benefits

  • Creates a true single-pane-of-glass operational dashboard.
  • Reduces dependency on Analytics for simple tabular views.
  • Improves visibility for application owners and support teams.
  • Aligns dashboard capabilities with common observability workflows.
  • Enhances executive and NOC-style dashboards with actionable application-level data.
