Support OpenSearch as Self-Hosted datastore

As an user of the Self Hosted Instana Backend/Datastore, it would be beneficial to be able to replace ElasticSearch with OpenSerach (Interpropability of ES and OS). OpenSearch is available as a managed service on AWS or as K8s operator (https://github.com/Opster/opensearch-k8s-operator) which would lead to an solution which has a much higher support level then a custom solution with ElasticSearch.

Furthermore it would simplify the licence management as the current SSPL license of ElasticSearch is not considered as Open Source compliant. (Strong copy left license)

    Hi,

the idea here is not about being able to monitor OpenSearch, but to replace parts of the Self-Hosted Custom Edition deployment, which currently requires Elasticsearch. Will ping you all individually to open an idea with the Sensors team.

    Best,
    Hubert

    Hi,

+1 on reconsidering the status. We are managing 100+ clients (IBM Security EDR) which each have a OpenSearch deployment. This will be very beneficial to our monitoring infrastructure.

    Hi,

We do see value in supporting managed services to reducing your operational load.

At this point, we are not planning to add support for OpenSearch in the foreseeable future.

Please feel free to vote on this idea.
