Cloud Pak for AIOps: Event suppression API for devices placed in maintenance and decommissioned through external tools

Event suppression workflow:

Device placed in maintenance or decommissioned:

  • Device placed in maintenance in external tool
  • External tool workflow calls CP4Aiops REST API and passes the resource and time window (omit end-time if perpetual or unknown or completely decom)
  • CP4AIOps updates an internal maintenance table with the device name and/or ip address and time window
  • CP4AIOps optionally suppresses any existing alarms for the device name and/or ip address (if time window is current and not future)
  • CP4AIOps suppresses newly occurring events through its standard event enrichment process, if time is current

Device removed from maintenance:

  • Device removed from maintenance in external tool
  • External tool workflow calls Impact REST API and passes the resource (e.g. device name, ip address, etc)
  • CP4AIOps removes the device from its maintenance table
  • (optionally) Existing alarms for that device are un-suppressed

Additional notes:

User should have the option of suppressing events or discarding events from devices that are decom or in maintenance

We would need a UI to view all resources that are currently in maintenance or decommissioned

User should be able to also specify user-defined event criteria beyond just resource: e.g. if they have a custom field that they are using that indicates the location of the resource, they should be able to create a suppression policy that suppresses all events that match a defined location.
