Support for Over 1000 Grouping Rules Under IBM's Scope-Based Grouping Mechanism with Telus Customization

The 1,000 grouping rules have been established by the business team based on their expertise and understanding of events within their technical domain. These rules help identify real problems, reduce noise from events, and prevent the creation of duplicate tickets within the specified grouping time window. Both the NOC and business teams benefit from this grouping capability.

The detailed description are as follows:

  1. Group Scope Control: The group scope is determined by the scopeId, which can be a combination of any available event fields, such as:

    • @ActProkey

    • @ActProkey: @ElementOwner

    • @TUID

    • @TUID:@GROUPID

    • @Node:@GroupID

    • @Location_ID

    • @ActProKey:@MobOwnerGroup

    • @Location_ID

    • GroupID (where GroupID is defined as the ID of each group)

  2. Group Time (Quiet Period): The grouping time is based on definitions provided by the business team. Possible durations include:

    • 1 minute

    • 2 minutes

    • 3 minutes

    • 10 minutes

    • 15 minutes

    • 1 hour

    • 4 hours

    • 6 hours

    • 24 hours

  3. Scope-Based X in Y Suppression: The grouping solution must provide scope-based X in Y suppression within the group. This means the group will be created and then the synthetic parent event will be suppressed until the X in Y condition is met (i.e., the number of child events is equal to or greater than ‘x’ within the group’s quiet period ‘y’).

  4. Grouping Synthetic Parent Event: The grouping synthetic parent event must be populated with information from one of the child alarms with the highest probability of being the root cause event (e.g., @TUID).

  5. Synthetic parent Event Summary: From the parent event's summary, the NOC can view:

    • The number of active child events

    • The number of cleared child events

    • @GroupDescription (as defined by the business team)

  6. Event List Tool: The business team must have a tool to open an event list that includes all children of the selected parent event or the parent event of any selected child.
