This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Enhance Alert and Incident query API to enable filtering in alignment with the User Interface

Enhance the existing Alert and Incident retrieval APIs to include additional filtering conditions

  • Enable the API to query alerts and Incidents using the same set of filters as available in the UI.
  • Get the count of alarms

The current API has the following limitations

  • The current API capability does not allow filtering on enough conditions to deliver functionality equivalent to Netcool Omnibus 8.1 https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/netcoolomnibus/8.1?topic=interface-http-uris
  • This restricts the ability to migrate from Omnibus to AIOps
  • The current API supports querying a single alarm using an ID or getting all alarms. The ID is an AIOps construct and external systems won’t be able to create the ID. This leaves retrieving all alarms as the only option. With large alarm volumes this is not practical and APIs time out
  • Using the Retrieve all option will put a significant load on the system

Leading to

  • Teams who look after specific sets of technologies unable to fetch specific sets of alarms/incidents in-order to build efficient automations.
  • Inefficient processes
