This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Custom event fields mapping - Netcool Probes (without dependency on ObjectServer)

Implementing this feature would significantly enhance CP4AIOps' ability to ingest and process diverse event data, particularly in environments where direct probe integration is preferred or where ObjectServer is not used. It would provide more flexibility in handling custom event fields and potentially simplify the overall architecture for certain use cases.

  • Event field mapping is dependent on ObjectServer's schema and configuration via AIOPS connectors (Which is just uni-directional and no manual refresh option).
  • CP4AIOps integrates with Netcool/OMNIbus but have limitations in direct probe integration as no option to add any custom field.

Benefits of implementing this feature:

Increased Flexibility:

  • Direct mapping of custom fields from probes to CP4AIOps without ObjectServer constraints.
  • Ability to ingest and process a wider range of event data formats.

Improved Performance:

  • Potential reduction in data processing overhead by bypassing ObjectServer.
  • Faster event ingestion and analysis in CP4AIOps.

Simplified Architecture:

  • Reduced dependency on ObjectServer for certain use cases.
  • More straightforward integration for environments not using full Netcool/OMNIbus stack.

Enhanced Data Granularity:

  • Preservation of original event details that might be lost in ObjectServer normalization.
  • More detailed event information available for AI/ML analysis in CP4AIOps.

Easier Custom Integrations:

  • Facilitates integration with a broader range of monitoring tools and data sources.
  • Allows for more tailored event processing workflows.
