Extend Seasonality Feature to Identify and Mark Recurring Annual Alert Patterns as Seasonal

In our environments, we consistently observe increased alert volumes during recurring business and regional events. These spikes are not genuine anomalies; rather, they are caused by seasonal usage patterns such as heightened user traffic, modified batch schedules, and extended business hours. Similar alert activity was noted during the same festival period last year.

It is important to note that some festival periods do not occur in the same month each year, as their dates can vary. Consequently, these predictable annual or event-driven spikes are still flagged as anomalies, resulting in unnecessary alert noise.

Requirement:

  • Support both regional and business events, including those with movable dates, where event timing may vary each year.
  • Provide an option within the user interface to define the training period for festive events, enabling the system to recognize similar events in subsequent years as seasonal based on previously learned patterns.
  • Enable pattern recognition for alerts occurring in specific months, similar to existing capabilities for days of the week or days of the month. This functionality should allow the system to identify recurring events, such as those generated every December during Christmas, and classify alerts in the same period in future years as seasonal rather than anomalous.
