Export & Import User Alert Preferences Across IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps 4.x Environments

Provide a supported method to export and import user‑specific alert preferences across CP4AIOps 4.x environments.(Dev → Preprod → Prod).

  1. UI‑based / script-based export/import

  2. Supported REST API for user alert preferences

  3. Inclusion of user alert preferences in platform configuration backup/restore

  4. Admin‑level tooling to move user preferences between environments

  5. Support version‑compatible within same CP4AIOps major/minor release

  6. Ability to map users or identities safely between environments

  7. Ability to map user preference to user group or multiple users.

  8. Clear documentation and upgrade safety

As a result below issues can be addressed

  • User alert preferences must be manually reconfigured in each environment

  • This introduces inconsistency across environments

  • Manual recreation increases operational overhead and risk of misconfiguration

  • This becomes increasingly difficult in regulated enterprise environments where configuration consistency and auditability are required

  • Loss of user experience consistency across environments

  • Increased manual effort during cutovers and environment promotions

  • Higher risk of configuration drift

  • Reduced automation and repeatability

  • Audit challenges in regulated environments where user alert behavior must be consistent

This is addressed today via v2 user preferences APIs, which provide a supported approach for exporting/importing user preferences across environments.

These APIs are designed for this purpose and were developed as a foundation for keeping environments in sync (e.g., in GeoR scenarios).
