Enable Import & Export of Profiles in Cloud Pak for AIOps 4.x With Full Configuration Parity

In Cloud Pak for AIOps 4.x, Profiles are a critical construct used to enforce multi-tenancy, access control, and data governance. However, there is currently no supported mechanism to export and import Profiles along with all associated configurations across environments (Dev → Test → Prod or between clusters).

This limitation forces teams to manually recreate Profiles, which is time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to validate—especially in regulated enterprise environments.

Import/Export capability for Profiles in Cloud Pak for AIOps 4.x that allows complete portability of a Profile and all its dependent configurations.

The export should generate a versioned, reusable artifact (JSON/YAML), and the import process should support environment-aware reconciliation.

Scope of Profile Data to be Included

The import/export mechanism should include all settings and bindings associated with a Profile, including but not limited to:

Access & Identity
  • User Groups assigned to the Profile

  • Role and permission mappings

Alert & Incident Governance
  • Alert Restriction Filters

  • Incident Restriction Filters

  • Redaction Policies for Alerts

  • Redaction Policies for Incidents

Metrics & Observability Controls
  • Metrics Restriction Filters

Topology & Resource Scoping
  • Applications mapped to the Profile

  • Resource Groups

  • Resources associated with the Resource Groups and Profile

Expected Capabilities

  • One-click Export Profile (UI and/or API)

  • One-click Import Profile with validation

  • Conflict handling (e.g., name already exists)

  • Environment-aware mapping (IDs vs names)

  • Backward compatibility within 4.x releases

  • Audit-friendly and repeatable deployments

Business & Operational Benefits

  • Enables consistent configuration across environments

  • Reduces manual errors and misconfigurations

  • Accelerates environment setup and migrations

  • Supports regulatory and audit compliance

  • Improves operational efficiency for large enterprise deployments

  • Essential for CI/CD-style configuration management

Target Users

  • Enterprise AIOps Platform Administrators

  • Regulated environments (Banking, Finance, Healthcare)

  • Customers operating multiple AIOps environments or clusters
