AIOPs MAD to support forecasting more than 2 hours

Criteria

· Accurately forecast future operational conditions, capacity trends, performance patterns, and potential anomalies.

· Clearly explain AI-driven forecasts by identifying the main that influence the predictions.

· Demonstrate continuous improvement in forecast accuracy by comparing prediction errors over time as the solution learns from both historical data collected before the PoV and new data gathered during the PoV period.

Current Status

Metric and anomaly forecasting should be able to forecast more than the current 2-hour horizon to provide longer-term predictive insights.

    The API gives an unlimited forecasting window however the further out the forecast, the less reliable it is likely to be, much like a weather forecast is less reliable, the further out it is.

    The UI could conceivably be tweaked to allow the visualisation of longer forecasting periods however it is felt that this would give limited value, due to the above point. MAD is not predicting the future, it is simply forecasting future values based on the current trends; it is primarily detecting significant change in observed values. The anomalies it presents can be indicators of a developing problem that could/should be investigated before it turns into a real problem. Given these points, it is unclear whether such a UI enhancement would add significant value.
