Restrict Assign Owner User List Based on Current User’s User Group Membership

Description

Requesting an enhancement to the Assign Owner functionality so that the list of users available for ownership assignment is scoped according to the User Group (UG) membership of the currently logged-in user.

Current Configuration

Our user access structure is based on the following relationship:

User → Profile → User Group (UG)

Users are mapped to profiles, and profiles are mapped to User Groups.

Requested Behavior

When a user selects Assign Owner for an alert, the system should:

  1. Determine the User Group(s) associated with the logged-in user through the applicable profile mappings.

  2. Identify the users associated with those User Groups.

  3. Display only those users in the Assign Owner selection list.

  4. Exclude users who are associated only with User Groups that the logged-in user is not part of.

Example

If:

  • User A is associated with UG1

  • User B is associated with UG1

  • User C is associated with UG1

  • User D is associated only with UG2

When User A selects Assign Owner, the list should include the users associated with UG1, while User D should not be displayed based solely on membership in UG2.

If the logged-in user belongs to multiple UGs, the Assign Owner list should represent the users associated with the applicable UGs.

Business Requirement

The purpose of this enhancement is to prevent users from seeing or selecting owners who are outside the User Groups relevant to them. This will make the Assign Owner list more relevant and aligned with the existing User → Profile → User Group access model.

Expected Outcome

The Assign Owner user list is dynamically restricted based on the logged-in user’s User Group membership, rather than displaying users outside the applicable UGs
