The basic authentication user account only allows for a single username and password. This might work well in a very small company, but gets more challenging in a larger organization. What would make this more useful is to allow the basic auth username to hook into LDAP/Active Directory to then allow for multiple, authenticated accounts to be able to post JSON messages into this probe. That way you would have to be tied to a single account, but could have multiple ones all posting into the probe, but this still allows you to limit who can post their events into Netcool.

I would ideally like to see some sort of token based authentication implemented, rather than AD/LDAP.
Hi, for multiuser authentication, may recommendation would be to implement a more simpler approach similar to .htaccess. Would have the advantage to be independent and not relying on LDAP. What you think ?
