Full support of remote logs monitoring with Tivoli Log File Agent and Agent Builder

This is a work item related to the OPEN APARs IJ34689 and IJ46748:

IJ46748: IN CASE OF REMOTE MONITORING, LOG FILE AGENT IS NOT SUPPORTING LATEST KEY EXCHANGE MECHANISMS.

 

There is a compatibility issue between the Agent Factory and the newer levels of GSKit (after 8.0.55.17) and it had been noted as a product limitation as described in the older APAR here below - https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/apar/IJ34689.

Hence newer versions of ITM Log File Agent are only supporting Local Monitoring, which customers can continue to use. 

This scenario does not have dependency on ciphers used in ssh.

 

Evaluating the feasibility of fixing both the APARs IJ34689 and IJ46748 will require a significant amount of efforts, owing to the complexity involved.

It will require major changes in the Agent Factory code, which is a key common component for most of the ITM/ITCAM agents, so that it can introduce other issues at other levels too. 

That's why we consider this as a huge enhancement to full monitor remote log files and will be put on plan not before the end of the current year.
