Reflex situations (Take Action tab) can benefit from not having to manage, maintain and distribute scripts to servers across the estate as they are centrally managed vi the TEP client or CLI.
Powerful shell automation logic can be achieved by stringing together commands using “&&” (execute if previous command successful), “||” (execute if previous command failed) “;” (execute regardless), plus all the other shell features, sed and awk etc without having to create a Policy or script file.
However, the benefits of reflex automation are severely restricted by the 256 byte Take Action command string length.
One potential solution discussed could be to utilize the CLCMD2 column in the TEMS table which is defined to be 2k in size and stores the same data, minimising compatibility issues.
The less restrictive, the more potential for providing automation solutions.
