IBM Concert SaaS support Private Link

Solution Value Statement

Enable IBM Concert SaaS to support Private Link connectivity, allowing all traffic to remain within the cloud provider’s private network. This enhances security, reduces latency, and aligns with enterprise compliance requirements for regulated environments.

Proposed Solution

Implement Private Link support for all Concert SaaS services, including certificate ingestion, SBOM uploads, Concert Workflows, Data Apps, and API endpoints. This would allow customers to access Concert over a secure, non-public network path within their cloud provider (e.g., AWS PrivateLink, Azure Private Link, IBM Cloud Private Service Connect). The solution should include configuration options for tenant-specific routing, endpoint provisioning, and RBAC-controlled access.

Customer Impact / Business Value

  • Ensures all data traffic remains within the cloud provider’s secure boundary.

  • Reduces exposure to public internet, improving security posture.

  • Enhances performance by minimizing network hops and latency.

  • Meets compliance requirements for data residency and regulated workloads.

  • Aligns Concert with other IBM SaaS offerings like Instana and HCP Vault.

Pilot or Validation Context

Initial pilot can be scoped to enterprise customers in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) who already use Private Link for other IBM SaaS products. Validation should include end-to-end connectivity tests, latency benchmarks, and security audits.

Key Functional Requirements

  • Support for Private Link on AWS, Azure, and IBM Cloud.

  • Endpoint provisioning for all Concert services (UI, API, Workflows, Data Apps).

  • Tenant-specific routing and access control.

  • RBAC enforcement for Private Link access.

  • Monitoring and logging of Private Link traffic.

  • Documentation and setup guides for customers.

Metrics for Success

  • Number of tenants using Private Link.

  • Reduction in public internet exposure for Concert traffic.

  • Latency improvement benchmarks.

  • Customer satisfaction scores for network security and performance.

  • Compliance audit pass rate for regulated workloads.

Roadmap & Feature Overlap Analysis

  • Existing Epic(s):

    • Concert SaaS Deployment on MCSP

    • Data Sovereignty Deployment v1 (ROJA-156)

    • Enable Secure Access from DataApps to Concert Database on SaaS (ROJA-449)

  • Overlap Summary:
Concert SaaS already supports secure deployments in MCSP regions and scoped access for DataApps. However, these features do not currently include Private Link support or private endpoint routing.

  • Unmet Needs:

    • No support for Private Link or equivalent private connectivity.

    • No endpoint provisioning for secure, tenant-isolated access.

    • No documentation or setup flows for Private Link configuration.

    • No performance or security instrumentation for private traffic.
