Cloud Management and AIOps

This is an IBM Automation portal for Cloud Management, Technology Cost Management, Network Automation and AIOps products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

DI Widget Concept - Quick Inventory Widgets - Chained Inventory Metrics

In Data Insight, the Metadata widget in its core function acts as a representation of inventory and asset data separate from the typical inter-based metrics that are gathered today.

It would be beneficial to have an Inventory widget where you could define multiple device groups or object groups and limit the resources to a matched search on a selected metadata value. The display would be a count of the associated devices, along with a table that lists the resources/metadata fields that match the search.

This widget would be able to chain to performance metrics, alerts summaries, and other aggregations. (Ex. I have AWS resources that need to be organized by VPCID, this metadata field is dynamic and can change based upon automation, ideally i would create a device group and add all the devices that have that VPCID to it to capture what is needed, however with API updating the values, this can be unreliable. Instead I select a device group to focus on, and then select a metadata schema field that I want to focus my devices on. A total inventory of the device group is organized by the selected metadata, and displayed with its selected columns and resources, along with a count of all devices currently displayed.)

Considering the use-case of automation in WiFi-Enterprise, AWS, and Azure monitoring, we need a better way to have hybrid dashboard visualizations for devices that have changing metadata metrics day-to-day.
