Request for Dual Stack Flow Processing – IPv4 and IPv6 Support

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

This enhancement would enable the customer to adopt and upgrade to an IPv6-based underlay alongside their existing Cisco SD-WAN service.

Currently, Viptela supports only IPv4 traffic, and does not process IPv6 flows. This limitation becomes evident in scenarios where multiple templates (e.g., separate templates for IPv4 and IPv6) are passed. In such cases, the Augmentor processes only the standard fields from a single template, which restricts visibility into IPv6 traffic.

To address this, we would like to explore the possibility of enabling both IPv4 and IPv6 flow processing. Specifically, can we:

  • Support dual-template processing in the Augmentor?
  • Ensure that flow data for both IPv4 and IPv6 is captured and processed simultaneously?

This capability would be critical for customers transitioning to dual-stack environments and would significantly enhance monitoring and reporting flexibility.
