Large MSPs like BT manage environments with 30+ clusters. Even with a ~30-minute upgrade time per cluster, the cumulative effort, scheduling, and risk of downtime make frequent updates challenging. Simplifying the rollout process (e.g., automation, centralized controls, or lighter-weight SP application methods) would improve security posture, reduce operational overhead, and encourage timely adoption of critical fixes — benefiting both the customer and IBM’s support efficiency.

This is currently under discussion between the BT and VZ teams. I've asked that they compare their upgrade processes and challenges and come to PM with a unified list of specific challenges. The current content of this idea is too vague and it's also based on 6.8 upgrades. Any analysis and ideation on upgrade improvement should be done vs NMS 7.2.0+
