Device Mover Status

We are currently facing challenges in managing a large-scale device move process across peers, particularly when prioritizing certain device moves due to audit or business requirements. The current system presents two main challenges:

Device Status Tracking: We need a solution to effectively track and manage the status of device moves. Specifically, we require the ability to:

  • Monitor the status of all devices in the move queue, identifying whether they are in a "Queued", "In Progress",  "Moved" or "Error" state.
  • Identify devices that are in an "Error" state, such as those with "device connectivity from destination" or "peer lock on device" errors, and understand the reasons behind these errors.

Queue Management: We require the ability to:

  • Stop and delete the current queue if necessary.
  • Prioritize and queue urgent device move requests due to audit or business requirements.
  • Resume the device move wave seamlessly after addressing urgent requests.

Current Limitations:

  • The current system uses SOAP calls for queueing device moves, but it only returns a "True" or "False" status for device move attempts, which is insufficient for detailed error tracking.
  • The existing GUI does not provide adequate functionality to manage these operations effectively.

Request:

  • Develop a solution that allows us to read DeviceID and DestinationPeerID and manage the device move process.
  • Implement a mechanism to track the status of each device move, including "Queued", "In Progress",  "Moved" or "Error" states.
  • Provide functionality to stop and delete the current queue, prioritize urgent requests, and resume the device move wave seamlessly.
