Ability to create a threshold on Performance Metrics Widget

Other vendors like Riverbed, can display a red color alert on the graph when the metric axceed a specific threshold. So we expect to have the same on SevOne.

Hi there, this is a good idea but we'd like to have a small discussion on what you think the ideal implementation is. We can certainly implement static thresholds on our Performance Metrics charts, but we worry that that might not be useful enough considering the dynamic nature of most environments. This would lead to a situation where you would have to manually set this static threshold across multiple different reports which could become tedious when you have many reports to manage.

Here are a couple ideas I would like to get your thoughts on:

    • We could have the chart threshold be set based on alert thresholds already configured in the system. This would require you to have alerting policies in place in SevOne.

    • We could have the chart threshold compare against the indicators baseline, this would require you to set a threshold that is based on some sort of delta from that baseline such as a standard deviation away.

The other thing to consider is that this would only be available on charts with a single indicator type on them. Given the dynamic nature of Data Insight this could lead to nuanced behavior where you could configure this threshold but we'd have to hide it because the chart has mixed data on it. A feature such as this would only work on charts with uniform data.

All that said, we are certainly considering this but we would really like your opinions on some of these nuances.
