Replace VIP implementation with Keepalived

The current implementation of VIP management has some implementation limitations, is prone to breaking especially in split-brain situations. In a way it's also reinventing the wheel. Everything we already do with the VIP implementation can be done with Keepalived! Keepalived can:

  • Manage multiple virtual IPs, both for one interface or multiple interfaces

  • IPv6 support

  • Check and adjust the priority against the nms service, SevOne.masterslave.master file, anything really!

  • Add and remove routing based on where the VIPs are

  • Send notification emails

  • Alert via it's built-in SNMP

    • For snmp support, /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf requires "master agentx", /etc/sysconfig/keepalived requires "--snmp" and NMS requires the keepalived MIB.

Attached is a config file for testing.
This is for the primary, for the secondary just set priority to 99.
VRRP protocol needs to be permitted in firewalld: firewall-cmd --permanent --add-protocol=vrrp && firewall-cmd --reload

    Andre, I'm going to reject this Idea on the same grounds on which we rejected further work on VIP implementations. I'm happy to have a chat with you and @Guest and @Guest from Support to reassess if needed.

    Andre, have you been in discussions with anyone from Support about this? What customer/issue other than the generic one you listed in the description is this related to?
