RESTapi performance tuning

Customer is using the REST API to verify that the Device IDs and Object IDs they have associated with the telecom inventory in their application is accurate. To do that, they are requesting about 4800 objects from the API.

POST /api/v2/devices/objects/filter

 { "pluginIds": [1, 2], "objectIds": [... about 4800 {deviceId, objectId} pairs...] }

Using a page size of 1000, the API takes roughly 30 seconds to return a page of data. Using a page size of 10000, the API takes roughly 100 seconds to return a page of data. What can be done for better performance?

    Bert, performance is relative. Nobody was thinking of this customer's use case when those RESTv2 endpoints were created, so no they were not tuned for that specific use case.

    Why is the customer running "large quantities of devices/object IDs" through the API? What's the business value to them? What problems are they solving using that data?

    How much faster? Please explain the customer problem they are asking IBM to solve.
