RELATED IDEAS

Support for GCP PubSub in addition to Kafka on SevOne Data Publisher

We would like to make use of the performance data exposure using a message bus for northbound data transfer . It is much cheaper to use Google PubSub instead of a managed kafka instance .  We would like IBM to develop an SDK/gRPC based PubSub connector to publish performance data .

    Bibin,

    Thank you for the additional information. I've labeled this idea as a future consideration, but due to the ambiguity of the market opportunity, I have not added it to the product roadmap. If we see an uptick in GCP/PubSub demand in the future we may decide to add this to the product backlog.

    Hi Ryan. Yes , We have an unsupported Kafka that LT wants to get rid of and move to GCP managed Kafka . Math works well in favor of PubSub as long as we keep the monthly data volume less than 20TB . we are well below 20TB/Month as per estimates . PubSub wins by a margin on this scenario . We are migrating to GCP options wherever we can, so chances of other opportunities are high .

    The prospect of saving money by shifting to Google PubSub is interesting. Has your organization done any initial research on the potential cost savings? Are there other expansion opportunities at Telus that are unavailable without this feature?
