Expose SSID Attribute for Wireless Client Monitoring and Alerting Policies in SevOne

We would like to submit a feature enhancement request for SevOne Wireless Client Monitoring.

Currently, SSID information is visible within the Data Insight Wi-Fi Tracking Clients dashboard and is stored as part of the wireless client metadata. However, as confirmed under IBM Case TS022758227, the SSID attribute is not available for use within monitoring policies, alert conditions, filters, or workflows.

This limitation prevents us from selectively monitoring wireless clients based on SSID membership.

Business Requirement

We have implemented monitoring policies for wireless client experience metrics such as:

  • RSSI
  • SNR
  • Noise
  • Connection Quality Metrics

Our intention is to apply these policies only to Enterprise SSIDs while excluding Guest SSIDs and other non-production wireless networks.

Without SSID-based filtering, the policy applies to all wireless users, generating unnecessary alerts and reducing the operational value of the monitoring solution.

Requested Enhancement

Make the wireless client SSID available within SevOne as a supported attribute that can be leveraged in:

  • Monitoring Policy Conditions
  • Alerting Rules
  • Device/Object Filters
  • Metadata-Based Filtering
  • Data Insight Queries
  • Workflow Automation
