Reports metadata (owners, shared with, etc.)

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

Description: The current reporting and analytics solution lacks critical metadata such as report ownership, sharing details, average execution time, usage statistics, etc. When I checked with the Support last time, the only information provided to me was the total number of views and reports, which was ~96408. This makes the navigation of views and reports extremely difficult through the left navigation panel. Ultimately, it all results in lack of standardization, user’s operational experience, and doesn’t support organizational reporting needs.

Key challenges:

  • Metadata deficiency
  • Navigation overload
  • Standardization gaps and reports rationalization

What’s needed:

  • Reports meta data:
    • Total number of reports and views
    • Meta data of report, such as, report owner, shared with, etc.
    • Ability to rollup the data, for instance, all reports and views, where Owner is from a given portfolio, region, country, etc. (elements from user table).
  • Reports sharing meta data:
    • Ability for Admins and Portfolio Admins to control access of the standard views
    • List of users with whom the reports are shared with
    • List of teams / portfolios with whom the reports are shared with
  • Report usage metrics:
    • Number of times report / view was executed
    • Average execution time in seconds of all runs of the report or view with the timestamps of when it was executed and the users who executed them.
  • Report Admin capabilities:
    • Ability to transfer report ownership (updating report owner name)
    • Sharing of reports in bulk fashion, share the reports with all members of a given portfolio, team, etc.
