Enhance Validation Rules with API (V2) Invocation Capability

I propose an enhancement to the Validation Rules within Apptio, specifically to add the ability to invoke API (V2) calls during validation processes. This feature is currently available within Automation Rules and has proven extremely useful for dynamic and context-aware decision-making. Extending this capability to Validation Rules would provide significant benefits:

  1. Enhanced Flexibility: By enabling API calls during validation, users can dynamically fetch and validate data from external sources in real-time. This would allow for more complex and accurate validations that are responsive to external factors, ensuring higher data integrity and reducing the need for manual oversight.

  2. Consistency Across Rules: Providing this functionality in both Automation and Validation Rules ensures a consistent experience across the platform. Users can leverage similar capabilities regardless of whether they are setting up automations or validations, simplifying the learning curve and reducing the likelihood of errors.

  3. Improved Productivity: The ability to invoke APIs during validation would allow for more automated and seamless workflows, especially in scenarios where data dependencies or external validations are required. This would eliminate bottlenecks, speed up processes, and reduce the need for manual interventions.

This enhancement would greatly benefit our operations by allowing us to create more robust and flexible validation rules, ultimately leading to better data quality and more efficient processes. Please consider this request for future implementation.
