Enhance Validation Rules with JavaScript Execution for Better Flexibility

As an ATP Targetprocess developer, I greatly appreciate the Targetprocess product for its robust features and customization options through automation rules, validation rules, metrics, and mashups. However, I have encountered challenges with the current validation rule (VR) system.

In the validation rules, we can enter required values to restrict user actions based on Boolean conditions on individual fields and roles. But when combining multiple Boolean conditions across several fields, the validation rules become difficult to understand and maintain. Additionally, it’s challenging to implement role-based toggling for users without creating new roles and reassigning users.

Currently, in Automation Rules (AR), there is a JavaScript execution feature in the AND section that allows us to retrieve data and return Boolean values without performing full CRUD operations. This feature is very useful for complex conditions.

I propose implementing a similar JavaScript execution capability within the Validation Rules. This would allow for more flexible, readable, and maintainable validation logic. Furthermore, we can easily retrieve the modifying user data with the required fields in the validation rules, would enable dynamic validation without the need to create new roles and reassign users. We could simply create toggle fields in the user entity and retrieve these in the JavaScript section of the validation rule.

Implementing these enhancements would greatly improve the usability and flexibility of validation rules and streamline role-based validations.
