Snapshot capabilities in TargetProcess Reporting

TargetProcess currently enforces a default reporting threshold of 200K rows, and even after extending our instance to 500K, the platform continues to fall short of real‑world enterprise needs—especially in high‑volume environments.

For example, in 2025 alone, our organization processed 441K accepted stories, and this volume continues to climb. As a result:

Operational reports time out or run slowly.

History reporting requires scanning large fact tables, further reducing performance.

Multiple reporting‑related support cases have been opened internally (consistent with previously documented challenges in in‑platform reporting and training needs).

To maintain reliability and scalability, we propose introducing an Advanced Analytics Layer within TargetProcess

Proposed Enhancement

Description

Snapshot Engine

Time‑based data collection into optimized analytics tables

Targets & Thresholds

Built-in KPIs, performance scoring, and goal tracking

Forecasting

Predictive analytics using historical snapshots

Filtering Support

Same filter fidelity as operational reports, on snapshot data

Auto‑Purge Rules

Storage control for analytics datasets

Performance Boost

Faster dashboards and ability to exceed current row limits

Why this is important:

Implementing an Advanced Analytics Layer will allow TargetProcess to:

Scale with large enterprise data volumes

Unlock analytics beyond current row-limits

Reduce strain on the main application

Provide faster, more reliable reporting

Enable advanced KPI, forecasting, and trend analysis

This investment would deliver significant value to all TargetProcess customers—especially large enterprise users like us who routinely operate above 400K+ annual work items.
