Enhance Data Validation reports with an option to delete invalid links

Summary

The Data Validation report currently identifies invalid link conflicts but only provides an option to unlink them. In integrated environments such as Azure DevOps, unlinking introduces risk. When a link is removed but the Targetprocess item remains, the integration can interpret that orphaned item as new or changed data and attempt to push it back into the integrated platform, which is often not the intended outcome.

In many cases, invalid links occur because the corresponding work item was deleted in the integrated system but was not fully removed in Targetprocess. In these scenarios, unlinking does not resolve the underlying issue and can result in unintended re-creation, sync noise, or additional cleanup work. The Data Validation report should not only identify these conflicts but also provide appropriate remediation options that align with the root cause.

Requested Enhancement

Enhance the Data Validation report to provide controlled remediation options for invalid link conflicts, including the ability to delete invalid or orphaned records when deletion is the correct resolution. The validation experience should support both unlink and delete actions, clearly distinguishing when each option is appropriate, and preventing unintended data from being pushed back into the integrated platform.

Acceptance Criteria

  1. The Data Validation report identifies invalid link conflicts as it does today.
  2. The report supports both unlink and delete actions for invalid link conflicts.
