Need for standard delegate function that includes an option to expire delegation (defined by the person delegating)

A standard delegation function with an optional expiration date should be added to support temporary approval and workflow delegation. 

This feature is useful for project managers and approvers who need to temporarily delegate tasks or approvals during vacations, transitions, or leave, without permanently transferring responsibilities. It works by adding an expiration date field to the delegation mechanism so that delegation automatically reverts after a set date. Admins benefit from reduced manual intervention to revoke delegations that were intended to be temporary.

    Thanks for submitting this idea. We already have this on our Approval Management backlog — the need for delegation with an automatic expiry is captured and the customer context from this submission has been added to the relevant backlog item.

    We don't have active development scheduled on it yet, but we're considering it as a candidate for our next Approval Management increment, potentially in Q4 2026. No commitment at this stage, but it's on our radar and this idea strengthens the case for prioritizing it.
