Standardize TargetProcess Widget Configuration Experience Across Dashboard and Standalone Views

TargetProcess currently provides different configuration capabilities for views depending on how they are created. Views created directly on a dashboard expose a limited set of setup options, while standalone views added to a dashboard provide additional capabilities such as relations, empty lanes, cloning, templates, export, and link sharing.

Although both approaches ultimately result in a view/widget displayed on a dashboard, the user experience and available configuration options are inconsistent. This creates confusion, increases training and support effort, and leads users to perceive the behavior as a defect rather than an intentional design distinction. The product should either provide a consistent configuration experience across both creation methods or clearly indicate functional differences and guide users to the appropriate creation path.

 

Value Statement: 

Providing a consistent configuration experience will improve usability, reduce user confusion, and eliminate unnecessary rework caused by selecting the "wrong" widget creation method. It will simplify onboarding and dashboard management while increasing user confidence in the platform. Aligning capabilities or making differences explicit will reduce support inquiries and create a more intuitive, predictable product experience.
