Enabling SNMP polling feature to interest interface at end device

We are currently utilizing ITNM for device discovery, topology gathering, and availability monitoring within our network infrastructure. The devices being onboarded possess multiple network interfaces, each providing connectivity across various segments of the network. At present, the availability monitoring is limited to device-level SNMP polling, which does not extend to individual interfaces within the devices. This limitation restricts our ability to monitor the health and availability of all network paths and modes of connectivity provided by these interfaces.

Requirement:

We propose to enhance ITNM’s availability monitoring capabilities by enabling SNMP polling at the interface level for all relevant interfaces within each device. This will allow us to monitor the status and performance of every interface, ensuring comprehensive coverage and timely detection of connectivity issues.

Expected Outcome:

  • Comprehensive Monitoring: Availability monitoring will be extended to all interfaces of each device, not just the device as a whole.
  • Improved Visibility: Network operations will gain granular visibility into the health and status of each interface, facilitating quicker identification and resolution of issues.
  • Customer Impact: With approximately 500 new devices onboarded each month, this enhancement will directly benefit our customers by ensuring all modes of connectivity are monitored, reducing the risk of undetected outages or performance degradation.

Quantification of Benefit:

Onboarding 500 new devices monthly means. This feature will enable us to cover all available connectivity options for clients, thereby enhancing service assurance and supporting our commitment to high availability and reliability.
