Expose the Parking Savings and ROI metrics in the Turbonomic Parking Workloads UI and Reports

We are actively using the Turbonomic Parking policy to automatically start and stop workloads based on the schedules for example non production environments during the off hours . The policy is functioning correctly and workloads are being parked and resumed as expected

However the Park Workloads view only displays the current state of the instances (Running/Stopped) and the current on demand cost which shows as $0 when instances are stopped .
THis makes it difficult to measure and report the actual cost savings generated by parking actions .
Currently UI doesnot provide visibility into parking related savings including the cummulative savings per instance from parking actions , Hours parked per instance over time , The total parking savings across the accounts or the workload sets

We are also not able to track the Historical Savings trend from the parking policies , Avoided on demand compute cost while the instances are parked
Althrough turbonomic internally tracks savings through realised savings data /savings data these metrics are not surfaced in the park workloads UI
Enabling the Savings would benifit the Finops teams to track the historical Savings acheived and ROI obtained from the parking policies . this can improve a better reporting to the leadership and the Application teams to adopt parking

Hello, and thank you for submitting your idea.

It is possible to view Parking savings details via Dashboard by using either Realized Savings or Cumulative Realized Savings widgets.

    • Select Group by: Action Type

    • Select Time Frame: Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last year

    • Click Show All to expand view

    • Click show more details using the three dots on the right of the Suspend row (this includes both scheduled Parking savings as well Suspend VM generated actions)

    • The detailed table shows aggregated savings per resource for the selected time frame (along with several business dimensions: Account, Region, Cloud service provider, Entity type)

    • It can also be downloaded in a csv format, enabling further advanced analysis

Please let me know if this doesn't address your requirements.

    Best regards,
    Dejan
