We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

Export Group and policy settings inside the UI
Use cases:
Customers with single instances but no official backup instance
Customers with a single Turbo instance whose recovery method may be to rely on a snapshot or network backups. If those are not available, then another solution needs to be available. If there was a way to export the settings for groups and policies and schedules would cut the recovery time down.
Customers with multiple instances with the same groups and policies on each instance
Customers with multi-node instances or multiple Turbonomic instances but also have the same groups and policies on each instance having the ability to export the settings would save a lot of time in the event of recovery or if a new instance must be built for expansion.
Migrating from an internal database to an external
If a customer must change from one DB to another and migration is not an option, then having the ability to export and import the group and policy settings would be extremely helpful. Right now all historical and settings set in the UI would be lost.
This idea is mainly a time saver for our customers.
The use case I have for this is I have a customer that has over 275k VMs on 2 separate instances that are fully automated for moves and resizes. Last year the customer migrated from OVAs to a containerized environment. Having to recreate all the dynamic groups and policies along with schedules was a painstaking and time-consuming process. The customer is not sure of a full backup and recovery solution and the cost associated with having a separate instance mirroring the production instances is a cost-effective measure along with the problem of making sure the instances stay up to date on any changes in targets or policy and group changes.
