automated & time-bound exclusion of certain VMs from downsizing due to CTO mandate

Customer story.

The CTO mandates certain VMs are excluded for a certain time from the standard downsizing policies which run at each month end.

Current process is a bore - manually pulling these machines into a RECOMMEND ONLY  OVERRIDE group (leaving them in the standard policies) - and then remembering to take them out of the OVERRIDE group back into business as usual after the embargo.

One Idea - create an override group which is TIMEBOUND - and will automatically delete itself.

Another Idea - create a time-based policy scoped to those machines which will automatically delete itself.  The customer is very familiar with policy and execution schedules and is adamant  they won't work in this scenario.  Or would be the same amount of work as putting VMs into groups and out again.

Scope of the downsizing OVERRIDE is both onprem and cloud.

if we could get a product manager to come to a customer meeting - that would be excellent - maybe there is an easier way which I and the customer are not seeing.
