Enhanced Role-Base Access Control: Additive permissions resulting from multiple external group memberships

If a user is a member of multiple external groups, Turbonomic authenticates the user through the first group that was returned during the SSO or AD authentication.

This requires that the use of disjoint SSO or AD Groups for Turbonomic authentication and of maintaining a group per permission/scope combination.

The following usual scenarios are prohibited by this limitation and result in high effort in managing group specific to Turbonomic:

  1. Allow read-only access (e.g. Observer role) to group containing all IT employees and grant the role of Site Administrator or any other higher privilege to a group of people which is also member of the "All IT employees" group.
  2. When maintaining groups for the different services or applications, a user may be a member of a number of service or application related group. Thus, the user requires access to a number of scopes in Turbonomic.

Please change the role-based access control to allow additive permissions and scopes by considering all group memberships return during the SSO or AD authentication.
