Cancelling a WebSphere Batch job on Windows, a java.exe process started from the wsgrid.bat only kills the java process. The shutdown hook in java is not called and the job/step i the websphere bacth container is not interrupted/stopped.
This is "works as designed" was the reply to the PMR 17555,010,678.
The desired behavior is for TWS to send a control-C event to the java process so the shutdown hook is activated. (As is does if the wsgrid.bat is started from a cmd window anc ctrl-C is keyed.)
Another approach could be to develop a dedicated WebSphere batch interface/adaptor for TWS
