Functionality to export, edit, import IWS Database Objects in Excel (or some other form of spreadsheets)

This is an idea to add a functionality to export/import  IWS Database Objects to/from IWS DB.

Many IWS customers are requesting a functionality to  export IWS Database Objects to a spreadsheet, edit them, then bulk import the objects back to IWS DB.

This function should provide the following features:

  • export the IWS Database Definition from IWS DB to XLSX, CSV format
  • import the IWS Database Definition to IWS DB from XLSX, CSV format. When importing, check for definition syntax errors, loops.
  • It would be great if these features could be accessible through a few clicks in DWC.

Many Japanese customers keep lists of IWS DB definitions in spreadsheets for reference purposes.

If they can simply export/import IWS DB Objects to and from spreadsheets, this will relieve them from having to build and maintain Excel based tools to list database objects, export it to IWS-readable files, then add them into IWS DB using commands or APIs

Competitors in Japan offer these kinds of tools as an add-on or a part of their job scheduling product, making IWS disadvantaged.

Thanks!
