PeopleSoft / PeopleTools plugin / job type available from Automation Hub

The creation of a PeopleSoft / PeopleTools specific job type would help with schedulers ensuring accuracy creating job definitions, especially those using the DWC. At this time, a specific syntax needs to be followed in order for a PeopleSoft job to be successfully submitted. We need to choose the “Other” job type and enter in the proper syntax (ex. -parameter value -parameter2 -‘value_2’ … etc). For some users, typos are common. For others, they don’t even know what parameters are required. Other users want to use more granularity, but don’t know what other parameters are available, or what values can be used with what parameters.

In the case of these plugins from the Automation hub, all required field (3 for PeopleSoft) have asterisks by them. This alleviates the fear on not including the required values. And for all other parameters, these job types provide the fields as optional. This allows other schedules know which other parameters is available to them, should they want to be more granular. And lastly, syntax issues, like knowing to using single-quotes to encapsulate values with spaces, are handled by the job type and not a user’s memory.

As much as I can point people to the necessary documentation to help them write the proper commands with the proper syntax here, the use of a specific job-type would eliminate the confusion and concern for an understanding/language barrier which some documentation may cause them.
