Integration of Unit Testing for zCentric Agent Plugin Development

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

To make the plugin development process for the zCentric Agent more efficient and error-free, it is proposed to extend the existing framework by adding the ability for developers to create unit tests that simulate the agent's behavior. This would allow developers to test their plugins locally in an isolated environment, without the need for a full integration with the actual agent or live environment.

Goal:

  • Automation of Testing: Developers would be able to create unit tests for their plugins that simulate the zCentric Agent’s behavior, allowing them to verify their plugin’s functionality ahead of time.
  • Improved Test Coverage: By simulating agent behavior, developers can cover various scenarios and identify potential issues early in the process.
  • Simplified Development Process: By enabling local plugin testing, the development cycle is shortened and error sources are reduced.
  • Decreasing need of domain knowledge: The need for domain knowledge about the scheduler is reduced for developers when building a new plugin.

Proposed Features:

  • Integration with Existing Testing Frameworks: Support popular Java testing frameworks such as JUnit or TestNG, so developers can run their unit tests directly in their preferred environment.
