Technical service layer does not fit the use-cases of the current clients

See this idea on ideas.ibm.com

The Technical Service Layer that the OOTB-model tries to use is too simplified for the use cases of our clients:

More specifically there is currently not the possibility of allocating cost to a technology service by applying offering ID.

In the workbench, we have the possibility to select an offering ID when mapping a vendor or labor to a technology service.

Yet, it seems like the model is only build to support allocation through solution type and solution category when it is a technology service. Can we simply add a new data relationship within the model to fix this issue allowing us to allocate labor or vendor to a technical service offering. We did a quick-fix with the FLS-case after we had a talk with you back in October, but there is a need to consistently be able allocate to a technical service offering. Afterward, there is a need to be able to allocate technical service offering in the Workbench to a "business-facing" solution offering.

    Hi IBM

I agree that this can be modified in the OOTB configuration. The logic of the allocations are still quite different, as the allocations are based on expected storage and compute spend.

Instead, I want to flip the allocations around, so you determine how much a "business-facing service" consumes of a specific technical service. I would like to elaborate this via a meeting to clarify further, as I do not think it is quite straightforward to modify the OOTB configuration.

    Kind regards

For an individual project configuration, Apptio and Partner administrators can modify the OOTB configuration to extend the allocation rules to a more granular level. In this example, allocate to Solution Name (level 3, where Solution Type = L1, Solution Category = L2).

We are considering including this level of granularity in a future Costing Essentials enhancement. At this point, it has not been prioritized or committed to a specific release.
