Improve Export Schema by Replacing Category1, Category2, Category3 With Descriptive Dimension Names Merged

Current exports generate columns called Category1, Category2, Category3, … instead of meaningful names. Users must manually map categories back to their original fields every time, leading to:

  • wasted time
  • incorrect analysis
  • rework for reporting teams

Who benefits:

  • All Cloudability users producing monthly cost reports
  • FinOps analysts exporting data for Databricks/Power BI
  • Engineering teams performing cost allocation reconciliation

How it should work:

  • Replace Category1/2/3 with the actual dimension names (e.g., BusinessUnit, Application, Owner, CostCenter)
  • Maintain a consistent and predictable export schema across all products
  • Provide an option to include both the friendly name and the internal name (for API alignment)

This removes unnecessary friction around one of Cloudability’s most heavily used workflows.
